James Wade had darts fans are shocked by his hilarious response to Michael Smith’s nine darts at the UK Open.

The 38-year-old Wade has gained a reputation for himself amazing post-match interviews.

And he made another corker after beating Boris Krchmar 10-8 in the 1/8 finals at Minehead.

The car had to fight hard to defeat the Croat, and he spent one of the best stages of his career on the road to victory.

Wade, who so often did nine darts against him – including two shots by Gervin Price in the Premier League last month – hit one of his own in his eighth match against Krchmar.

The Aldershot-born pitcher chose 141 to drive the crowd into a frenzy as he jumped across the stage in delight.

The nine darts have been ten pennies in the PDC lately, and of course there was another in less than 20 minutes.

The second ideal stage of the evening belonged to Michael Smith, the vice-champion of the world, who found perfection in the seventh match against Mensur Sulovich.

Darts fans on Twitter equally noted both achievements, but Wade had no doubt which one was better.

“It was really cool, you know? And they were all in the middle. I don’t think I could doubt it,” he said, reflecting on his nine darts.

“You see, quite a few people beat nine darts, but they were all medium-sized white, and that was never in doubt. I was never going to beat it, so it was really cool.”

“One hundred percent it wouldn’t be anything like mine,” he said of Smith’s nine darts before completing the excavation at ITV, saying, “I’m fine. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.”

Darts fans have told Wade what they think of his Twitter interview.

One man wrote, “James Wade is a little arrogant.

Someone else said, “I really don’t know how to take James Wade … I never know if he’s on a regular basis when he’s interviewing or if he’s just a fool.”

A third user added, “I can’t stand James Wade, such a cheeky, cheeky turf!”.

On Sunday in the quarterfinals Wade will meet with Irishman Keane Barry.
