Laura Norton said her hair started falling out when she was 16 years old

Emerdale Star Laura Norton revealed that her hair began to fall out in large lumps shortly after she joined the ITV soap.

Laura, who plays in the Kerry Vyat program, said she started losing hair at just 16, but it really impressed her after she signed the dotted line.

The 38-year-old woman started taking synthetic hormones to fight her “horrible” menstrual periods when she was younger, but was unaware of the side effects the medication would have on her.

Laura claims that when she was prescribed hormone pills, doctors were unable to reveal side effects that would further affect her.

Speaking about this test in an emotional letter to New magazine, she wrote: “They never told me that certain pills contain heavy testosterone and attack hair follicles, causing hair to become thinner and weaker and then fall out.”

However, when she joined, things got worse Emerdale back in 2012, explaining: “After years of ups and downs, downs, growth and so on, I have reached a peak.

I got the job of my dreams by playing Carrie Wyatt in Emerdale, and – boom – my hair fell out in lumps.

“Thank you, universe, great time! It wasn’t very good for the old self-esteem.”

Concerned about this, Laura booked an appointment with her local trichologist (hair doctor) near her home in Newcastle, where she lived.

Her specialist gave Laura drops with a hormone as well as ferritin, which allows your body to store iron.

Laura also prescribed a “hair-friendly” version of the hair pills she had taken before, allowing her hair to begin the recovery process.

“After nine years of caring and caring for my hair as my own child, they were thick, shiny, healthy and strong,” she explained.

She continued, “It’s hard to believe this is what I cried about – and when I was so unconscious, I never let my hair down, I demonstrated it at every opportunity.”

However, during her pregnancy with her son Jesse, she could no longer take the drug drops due to their hormonal content.

“It was so intense that I don’t know how I got hair on my head,” she explained.

Since then, Lori’s hair has completely recovered, but she expects that in the future she will face hair loss again.
