While most of us spend our working lives in the office, on the playground or working with the public, some people are more fortunate than others.
One such person who seems to have pulled a long straw in the world of work is Alexandria Adamson of Glasgow.
The young woman was selected in 2020 to become the official tester of Ocean Florida theme parks.
Because of this year’s pandemic, she was able to visit Orlando only to do her job as a tester, but she has already spent three weeks trying out all the available attractions.
Highlights of Alexandria’s trip include a day at Busch Gardens, where, she said, “some of the best roller coasters in all of Florida”.
Some of her favorite attractions in the U.S. include the new Jurassic World theme Velocicoaster from Universal, Disney’s Star Wars Resistance Rebellion, and the Iron Gwazi attraction at Busch Gardens.
And as a professional amusement tester, Alexandria has picked up some smart skills for navigating theme parks.
She shared them with mirror – and some of them will reduce the queue time.
Use the Theme Park program
The trip tester says you should use a theme park program to check if time gets shorter.
Alexandria explained: “If there are big night shows or parades and you don’t worry too much about it, it’s usually when the waiting time is lowest.
“Each park has its own app to help you make the most of your day, usually with waiting times, how to navigate the parks, as well as all the entertainment and food and drink
“Play with the My Disney Experience app before you go.”
Look for resort benefits
She commented: “If you are a guest of a resort for certain parks, use the extra time they give you to enter the parks, it can mean early in the morning or late in the evening, but it is usually worth it.”
Plan for bad weather
Alexandria noted: “In some parks it is better to be in bad weather.”
She noted that EPCOT and Hollywood Disney Studios have fewer attractions that close when there is lightning, compared to the Magic Kingdom.
Alexandria commented: “Buying full-service restaurants a day can be very difficult.”
So it’s best to book in advance where possible, a park tester claims that some of the best eateries are actually at Disney resorts, such as Enchanted Rose in The Grand Floridian and Trader Sam’s in Polynesian.
Buy an Express Pass
When it comes to Universal Studios, Alexandria recommends using the Express Pass.
She noted, “It will have such significance for your day,” but it can’t be used on some rides, such as the new Jurassic-themed roller coaster, Velocicoaster, so weigh all the pros and cons for yourself.
