MANCHESTER, April 26, 2022 (WAM) – Manchester City will take the lead in the Champions League semi-final match against Real Madrid after a sensational game at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s wards won 4-3, but, one way or another, were left to regret a number of other great chances. Kevin De Brain opened the scoring two minutes later with the fastest goal in Champions League semi-final history before Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead nine minutes later. Benzema’s volley halved the deficit and made the score 2-1 at the break.
In the second period, it took Phil Foden just seven minutes to regain his team’s two-goal lead before Vinicius made it 3-2. City again came through Bernardo Silva before Benzema got the score 3-4.
The two teams will fight next Wednesday at the Bernabeu to determine which side will advance to the CL finals.
