A careless driver on the M57 smashed into a crash barrier after making a late decision to change lanes when leaving the motorway at Junction 1 – the Tarbock Interchange on Saturday. The motorist was reported and will be offered the opportunity to attend a driver awareness course with police pointing out that it was lucky that no injuries were sustained and that the crash was not more serious.
Officers also warned members of the public to plan their journeys in advance. The incident was recounted on the Mersey Police Roads Policing Unit’s official Twitter account @MerPolTraffic in a 1.31am post during the early hours of this morning.
It was accompanied by a dramatic photograph of the badly-damaged vehicle mounting the crash barrier and read: “Luckily no injuries were reported after the driver of this vehicle made a last minute lane change when leaving M57 at J1. Driver reported and will be offered a driver awareness course. Please plan your journey in advance. #syn3.”
