Emergency services are currently in attendance at a large fire in Co Down.

Police and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were tasked to the blaze in Ballynahinch on Friday afternoon.

Dromore Street in the town, has been closed in both directions and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

Members of the public have gathered near the scene, where a police cordon is in place as black plumes of smoke can be seen coming from the area.

A PSNI statement said: “Ballynahinch is closed in both directions, as Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service are currently dealing with a fire in the area.

“Motorists should seek alternative main routes for their journey and avoid the area if possible.”
