Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.94% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the lost 0.94%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 2.87% or 11.00 points to trade at 394.00 at the close. NTN Corp. (TYO:) added 2.32% or 6.00 points to end at 265.00 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:) was up 2.29% or 8.00 points to 358.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:), which lost 6.58% or 324.00 points to trade at 4,600.00 in late trade. Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 4.03% or 10.00 points to end at 238.00 and CyberAgent Inc (TYO:) shed 3.97% or 57.00 points to 1,378.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2812 to 744 and 214 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.93% to 23.90.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.94% or 1.04 to $109.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 1.06 to hit $109.72 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 6.55 to trade at $1,854.35 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.32% to 127.46, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 136.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.84.
