    Netflix finally confirmed when the fifth season Crown will appear on the streaming platform.

    The much-talked-about drama follows the twists and turns of the royal family’s history, with the upcoming season set to take place in the 1990s.

    The exciting release date announcement came as part of streaming giant Tudum’s global fan event on Saturday, which updated many of its big projects.

    As part of the event, Netflix also teased fans with updates on other popular series and movies You, Bridgerton and Never Have I Ever.

    Netflix confirms the release date of the fifth season of “The Crown”.

    Netflix has confirmed that the Emmy-winning drama The Crown will return on November 9, 2022.

    The upcoming series will be the first to air since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, whose reign is chronicled in the series.

    The confirmation also comes after filming of the sixth series of The Crown was suspended out of respect following news of the Queen’s death and funeral.

    The cast of the fifth season of Netflix’s The Crown

    As with other “The Crown” series, the new installment will feature a new cast as time changes.

    Replacing Olivia Colman, Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth II.

    Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana and Dominic West will play the Prince of Wales.

    The audience will also see Jonathan Pryce as the Duke of Edinburgh and Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret.

    In other casting news Netflix has finally confirmed who will play Prince William and Kate Middleton in the sixth series of The Crown.

    Earlier this month, the streaming giant announced that both Rufus Campa and Ed McVeigh will play Prince William in the sixth season of The Crown.

    Campo is set to play William from the age of 15, while Ed McVeigh will take on the role in his teens and early 20s.

    Meanwhile, Meg Bellamy has been chosen for the role of Kate Middleton.

    The fifth season of The Crown will be available to stream on Netflix starting November 9.
