Guy Gerber tells us a selection of music from his label Rumors

GUY GERBER’S Rumors imprint continues to impress, and the Israeli DJ/producer’s next label is more of the quality we’ve come to expect over the years.

New music out today comes from Rumors mainstay Juan Jarin with his EP Lovefool. Juan’s last release from the emotional deep house on the label was last year’s Venice Beach mini album.

Lovefool begins with spine-tingling piano chords layered over soft, deep house drums. Gentle vocals round off the most majestic groove.

Guy Gerber’s remix is a stylish reworking of the original with the piano chords left in place and the drums given a little extra punch. All of this puts you in a deep reverie and makes for a truly beautiful listen. Paradiso then picks up the pace with a more vertical house sound this time with low bass and icy hi-hats adding detail next to the elegant synth. Lina closes with a heady, hypotonic house that’s filled with nocturnal vibes and swirling space keys.

    Juan says about the release:

“I’m proud to announce that my new mini-album Lovefool will be released on November 25th. Lovefool has already been performed by big names like Keinemusik at Burning Man 2022, and will even be promoting the release on an upcoming live European tour. “

We caught up with Guy Gerber this week to celebrate the new release and asked him to put together and talk to us about a playlist featuring ten of his favorite tracks from Rumors. Pick up a copy of Juan Jarin’s Lovefool EP HERE.

Guy Gerber & Dixon – No Distance

First release on the label and a very epic collaboration with Dixon who I love. The song is very emotional and was written at Rami’s from Bedouin studio in Brooklyn and then I sent it to Dixon and he came up with this great beat. It still works.

Guy Gerber & Puff Daddy – My Heart

From my 11:11 project with P.Diddy, I love the whole album, which took a long time to make. I wrote this album in Tel Aviv, New York and Los Angeles. Despite a big name like Diddy, I wanted something that was honestly tied to the foundation of underground house music.

    Juan Jarin – Lovefool

I love everything from Juan. He’s always sending me new music, but this is definitely his best tune; great song. I love the piano melody and vocal beats; very emotional and dreamy.

Guy Gerber – Rainchecks in Montreal

This is my favorite job. There are so many melodies, two guitars, bass, piano and five synthesizers.

Guy Gerber – What to do

Written in Ibiza in 2018 in 45 minutes sitting on the couch with a little Juno 106 synth. I was very cranky when the season ended; this tune described how i felt. It’s probably my biggest hit and that vocal sample sums up what everyone has been feeling for the last decade.

Desire – Don’t Call (Guy Gerber remix)

Another favorite of mine. This is a remake of my now very close friend, Megan, from Desire. Someone who was a friend of mine told me about this sample and I did it all while playing the synth on my laptop keyboard while flying. It really touches everyone who listens to it, especially because the lyrics are so moving.

    Seth Troxler – Evangelion

I’m a big Seth fan and he’s a long time friend of mine. I was just happy that he released this deep part with us.

Guy Gerber – Pyramid of the Moon

I love guitars and spaghetti westerns. So it came out.

    Chaim – Blue Shadow

This is one of Haim’s best songs, timeless. When you listen, you think of summer in Ibiza.

Guy Gerber feat. Albertina – BOCAT

Written in London with Albertina, this song is all about Albertina’s sexy raw vocals and the lyrics are fantastic. You should check out what it actually means in Jamaican slang.
