Winter weather puts an end to the football season at Rory Davidson St Johns School

Winter weather puts an end to football season

The 2023 football season has been suspended for the entire month of January due to extreme temperatures. Winter really won the environment after the temperature drop in late December 2022. The plots were left frozen and hard, making them unplayable.

However, many teams have shown that they overcome these natural difficulties in the game using 4G artificial pitches. These all-weather pitches have taken football by storm with their rubber and plastic base, maintenance costs are minimal compared to grass pitches. As well as the flawless surface allowing teams to play good football, games on 4G pitches are never canceled due to weather or ground conditions. Are grass pitches just out of date now?

The season has already had a significant impact, the 3 weeks of postponed games takes its toll, especially in the final season. The season for players will be extended into the summer or games will be cancelled, creating a serious imbalance in the leagues. Another option is that players will be forced to play multiple games during the week. This will put a lot of stress on the players, if the rest time is reduced, the players will be much more susceptible to injury, which can hurt the teams even more.

The temperature seems to be rising now and football season is about to start again.
