Victim of Met Police sex predator says she wants him to spend 40 years in prison

The first victim of a sex predator, police officer David Carrick, who has revealed his identity, has said he wants him to spend the next 40 years behind bars.

Darciana Núñez Da Silva, 43, waived anonymity in an interview Sunday People because he believes that the victims of the first are more Metropolitan A police officer who has yet to speak.

Ms Da Silva said Carrick abused her while she was in a relationship with him.

She told the newspaper that he choked and violently beat her, controlled every part of her life, spied on her with hidden cameras and punished her when she disobeyed him by letting his snakes out of their enclosure.

Carrick served as a Met officer for 20 years before being exposed as one of the country’s most prolific sex offenders.

A 48-year-old man was dismissed from the police force for gross misconduct after he pleaded guilty to 49 criminal charges, including 24 counts of raping 12 women over an 18-year period.

He should be convicted of crimes in Southwark Crown Court on Monday.

Ms Da Silva said she did not believe Carrick could ever change.

“I would like him to get 40 years in prison,” she said.

“I think it would be fair because I know some of his victims lost 20 years because of what he did. He must be punished.

“I don’t believe he can ever change, and I fear that if he does, he will hurt someone else.

“But I hope by then he’ll be so old he can’t.”

She said Carrick’s abuse made her “suicidal” and that she hopes her bravery in speaking out will inspire other women to come forward.

The Brazilian woman said that she first met Carrick in a pub in London after matching him on a dating app.

She described him as initially appearing to be a perfect man. However, she said he soon became aggressive and violent, controlling her diet and sleep time and forcing her to allow him to use handcuffs and sex toys on her.

“He knew how to manipulate me,” she told the Sunday People.

“He kept threatening me and saying, ‘I’m a policeman and I’m going to deport you if you don’t do what I want.’

She added that twice he released snakes on the floor to scare her.

“Twice as punishment he released snakes onto our floor,” she said.

“I was lying on the couch, screaming and screaming.”

Ms Da Silva left Carrick in July 2020 and later reported him to the police in March 2021.

She claims she withdrew her complaint after initially receiving no support.

However, she said she reopened it a month later at the request of police after being told another victim had come forward.
