First ‘carbon free’ step in 2023 – Bhumieka Boyapati, Newstead Wood

The Carbon Council was established by Newstead Wood as a first step towards achieving the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. However, in order to do this, they set as their first goal the purchase of equipment that will reduce the school’s energy consumption, helping to balance the school’s carbon dioxide emissions.

In order to achieve this, the Carbon board started by organizing its first event, selling a wide range of things, all sustainable in a way.

– There were food stalls with products, all based on low-carbon recipes.

– Second hand book stalls that were free or at low cost.

– There was also a second outfit.

-Competitions to win buns etc.

The idea behind this fundraiser was great and sustainable. Not only do you support the school’s efforts to decarbonize by donating to its zero-emissions plan, but you’ll also receive a free book or extra clothing at a low price.

In the end the event was a success, nevertheless everyone enjoyed their Friday lunch.
