A major US grocery chain is opening seven new locations – see the full list

A burgeoning US fast-food chain will open seven new restaurants in a matter of weeks.

Popeye has released a list of several stores opening in the coming weeks.

A New Orleans-style chicken shop already exists 17 restaurants open across the UK and plans to open 20 more outlets by the end of 2023.

Now the chain has opened the first of seven new locations, and some will have the fryers turned on within days.

The first new restaurant opened in Cambridge on February 16th, closely followed by Reading on February 23rd.

Popeyes restaurants are coming soon to Cardiff, Plymouth, Richmond, Rotherham and Barrhead.

Rotherham will mark the brand’s first foray into UK drive-thru restaurants.

The Rotherham pass used to be busy KFC.

Popeyes has not yet announced where the remaining 13 locations will be opened.

Tom Crowley, chief executive of Popeyes UK, said: “The sustained demand we are seeing for Popeyes in the UK is incredible.

“It continues to be great to see the enthusiasm with which the UK welcomes us and we are particularly proud to be opening our first car parks this year.”

Popeyes is owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI), which also owns Burger King.

Popeyes first opened in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972 and has 350 locations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company has 3,400 restaurants in 25 countries.

The Fast food the giant was launched in the UK in 2021 when the first store opened in the Westfield shopping center in Stratford.

Shortly after that Popeye opened kitchens only for take-out in various London areas including Bermondsey, Maida Vale and Whitechapel

Then in 2022, the chicken chain opened a new sit-down restaurant in Chelmsford and a further seven outlets across the UK.

And Popeyes isn’t the only American chain to start opening up in the UK.

Wendythe third largest burger chain in the world, is back in the UK for the first time since 1999.

The chain returned in 2021 when it opened a branch in Reading.

The brand is famous for its square burgers.
