Two men were shot dead in a west London park during a suspected robbery

The men shot dead in a northwest London park may have been the victims of a violent robbery, police said.

The pair were found with multiple gunshot wounds in Canons Park, Edgware, at 6.30am on Monday.

Armed police rushed into the normally “peaceful park” to find the victims.

Both were rushed to the hospital, where their condition is not life-threatening.

A Met spokesman said: “Armed police were among those who responded.

“Two men were found with suspected gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, their condition is considered life-threatening.

“The investigation of the circumstances continues.

“Initial indications are that the men may have been victims of a robbery.

“At the moment, there have been no arrests. The police are conducting a number of criminal cases.”

A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said: “We sent three ambulance crews, an ambulance paramedic, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We treated two patients at the scene and transported them both to a major trauma center as a priority.”
