Stephen Fry will host the new British version of “Jeopardy!”
It’s common in the US to steal ideas from popular UK shows – we’ve seen it Office and Vip and the latest TV hit, Island of love. But it’s less common for the UK to actually adapt an American show, other than their occasional one Jersey Shore spinoff, which recently ended after five seasons. But ITV seems to understand what people really want Risk! makes his way across the pond!
Great Britain takes over Danger will be organized Paddington narrated by Stephen Fry and follow the same structure as the American version, although hopefully these participants will indeed know the answers instead of dishonors his country.
Fry, a longtime fan of the game show, expressed his excitement in statement to Diversity: “In the United States, ‘Jeopardy!’ it is a phenomenon like no other. Whenever I’m in America, I do my best to catch it every weekday. The idea of holding it here in the UK makes me giddy with excitement. I hope that a dedicated quiz nation like ours will welcome this uniquely addictive and endlessly rewarding game.”
This isn’t actually the first time the UK has dipped its toe in Danger Universe, as there were various one-off seasons throughout the 80s and 90s. But the 2023 iteration of British Jeopardy will also allow contestants to play an extra round, so it’s not are real Danger, right?
Jeopardy UK is expected to air this autumn on ITV1 and ITVX.
