Shipley’s pantsless takeaway boss caught on CCTV on night of rape

Sivaganesan Pardeep was the owner of a premises in Shipley when he subjected his victim to a “prolonged and protracted” sexual assault while she was sometimes semi-conscious.

Part of the attack was caught on CCTV, showing Pardeep, 37, walking around without his pants on.

Prosecutor Sohail Khan told Bradford Crown Court today that Pardeep had pleaded guilty to rape and two counts of sexual assault 12 days before his trial.

After midnight, he gave the young woman alcohol, sat her on his lap, hugged her and touched her ass.

She cried and screamed as she became dizzy and sometimes lay on the floor, Mr Khan said.

She tried to fight Pardeep with a knife and when she fell, he picked her up.

Although the rape was not caught on camera, her subsequent injuries and DNA data directly linked him to the attack.

In the victim’s personal statement, she said she felt suicidal at times. Her health suffered and she lost her relationship with her boyfriend because of the stress she was going through.

It was hard for her to trust anyone now, and she felt that her future plans had been seriously damaged.

Pardeep, who now lives in Barnard Gardens, New Malden, South London, had no previous convictions, the court was told.

His barrister Gillian Batts said he did not remember what he actually did but had to accept CCTV and DNA evidence.

He was remorseful for his actions, and his guilty plea kept the woman out of court.

Pardeep has not committed any crime before or since.

He was still with his wife despite what he had done, Miss Betts said.

Judge Andrew Hutton said Pardeep had made his victim drink and that he was also under the influence of alcohol was an aggravating factor.

She was sleepy and dizzy when he attacked her for two or three hours. Sometimes she was almost passed out as he taunted her.

She cried, felt faint and could not breathe.

“This was a long and drawn out incident,” Judge Hutton said.

After that, she ran away from the premises and immediately complained about what happened.

Judge Hutton told Pardeep he would serve two-thirds of the eight-and-a-half years behind bars.

He must sign on the sex offenders register for life.
