The winner of Omaze’s £3m townhouse draw has been named

34-year-old Kevin Johnson said this Omaze’s latest million pound home draw after buying a winning entry for just £50.

Kevin said that when he was told he had won the house in Islington, he was “so shocked” that his knees “almost buckled”.

As well as winning a mortgage-free four-bedroom Victorian townhouse, Kevin will receive £100,000 in cash to help him get settled.

Kevin started working in the London construction industry ten years ago, while his wife Dee, 44, has worked in childcare and education for the past 24 years.

The lucky couple have been married for 12 years, since 2011 they have been living in a rented three-room apartment. They have four sons.

Stunned Kevin was told he had won the house, which is a short walk from Finsbury Park station, after he got home from work.

He said: “My wife was walking home from work so I called her straight away for the video – she didn’t believe me at first but when she saw the film crew the penny finally dropped.

“She screamed and turned the phone around to tell the packed train that we’d just won the Omaze house – all the other passengers started clapping – it was crazy.”

“We’ve always wanted to own our own house one day, so it’s really our dream – we’ll move as soon as we can.

“I won’t need to use my carpentry skills on the house as it’s absolutely perfect – the kids will love it.

“We’re still pinching ourselves that whatever we decide to do in the long term, it’s going to give us a lot of security as a family, it’s really going to be life-changing for all of us.”

The prize draw raised £2m for the British Heart Foundation – Omaze’s biggest prize draw to date.

Kevin added: “My wife’s grandmother had heart complications later in life so we are delighted that the raffle has raised so much money for the British Heart Foundation.”

Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Chief Executive of the British Heart Foundation, said: “We are delighted for the Johnson family and are overwhelmed by the £2 million raised by the Omaze London House raffle.

“This incredible amount of money will help fund ground-breaking research that will change the lives of people living with heart and circulatory disease in the UK for generations to come.”
