The UK government is expected to announce it will ban TikTok on its work phones later, Sky News reports.
Cabinet minister Oliver Dowden will make a statement to Parliament this afternoon on the “security of government devices”, where he is expected to confirm the ban.
A Chinese-owned video-sharing app has come under increasing scrutiny data security and privacywith concerns that it could be used to promote pro-Beijing views or collect user data.
