RF Kuang goes on strike against Harpercollins publishing

During the 66 days of the strike, Rf Kuang, who is strongly associated with HarperCollins, having published all 4 of her wildly successful fantasy books, decided that she would also go on strike with the HarperCollins people. This is in tandem with her recently published book, Babel – An Arcane History, which, as Kuang herself said, is about the “power of strikes and collective action”, which is the main theme of Babel. It looks like Kuang practiced what she preached and joined the strike against the corporation that supports her and her career. She’s obviously successful enough to do this and get the word out to those who don’t know, and it’s brave of her and these 250 workers to stand up to something that was so blatantly wrong and try to move forward to a better life. Kuang stated that “HarperCollins wants me to continue publishing books for them, but they have to treat the people who put my books on their shelves with dignity and respect.” I think they’ll realize that a lot of writers like me can go elsewhere.”

Kuang said she will be moving corporations and is currently publishing with William Morrow & Co and is no longer affiliated with HarperCollins.
