Epsom: A victim was assaulted by a man wearing a balaclava in Horton Hill Lane

Police were called to Horton Hill around 2 a.m. on April 16 following reports that a victim had been seriously assaulted.

A man on a bicycle who was wearing a balaclava drove up to the victim.

The balaclava-clad man then struck the victim with an unknown weapon, causing serious facial injuries.

The victim was taken to the hospital, now he is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are now looking for anyone who witnessed the attack, as well as anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage that could help with the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Lee Marks said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and have any information that may assist our inquiries.

“We would particularly like to speak to two men on bicycles who may have seen the victim shortly before the attack.”

Epsom and Ewell District Commander Inspector John Vale added: “We would like to reassure the local community that our officers will continue to patrol the area while this serious attack is being investigated.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Epsom in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 16).

“Police were called at around 2am following reports that the victim had been assaulted in an alleyway on Horton Hill in Epsom.

“A man riding a bicycle drove up to the victim. The man, who was wearing a balaclava, then struck the victim with an unknown weapon, causing severe facial injuries.

“The victim is now in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack, who has CCTV or doorbell camera footage or any other information.
