Police have named a teenager stabbed to death in Dagenham

A teenager was stabbed to death nearby Dagenham Heathway Metro station on Friday night was named as Wazabakana Elenda Jordan Kukabu, known as Jordan, by the police.

Metropolitan Police officers and London Emergency services were called just before midnight on May 5 to reports of men armed with a machete outside a station in east London.

Employees found 18-year-old Mr. Kukaba from the village of Romford, with stab wounds. He died at the scene.

Police said a second man in his 20s was also taken to hospital with a stab wound, but his condition was not life-threatening.

The 20-year-old man was released without further action after police arrested him on suspicion of murder, the force added.

But the same man was also arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and released on bail for that offence.

Police said Mr Kookaboo’s family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Sunday revealed that the cause of death was a single stab wound to the chest.

Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley, of the Specialist Crime Squad, said: “My thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends.

“Dedicated detectives have been working around the clock following this tragic incident as we aim to identify and apprehend those responsible for Jordan’s murder.

“Our investigation is making significant progress. Local residents have provided us with information which, together with forensic investigations and CCTV analysis, allows us to build a picture of what happened on Friday night.’

Superintendent Martin Rolston, from the Met’s Eastern Area Command, said: “I am well aware of the impact this shocking incident has had on people in and around Dagenham.

“I share their concerns and can assure local residents that the Met’s investigation is thorough and fully focused on securing justice for Jordan’s family and friends.”
