Working royals return to duty after long coronation weekend

The royal family will return to official duties on Tuesday after a weekend of coronation ceremonies and celebrations.

The King is among the royals to return to business as usual, along with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Duchess will visit Morden College BlackheathLondon, of which she is patron, on Tuesday, while the Duke will attend a dinner at Stonehage Fleming in St James’s Square for his patron charity, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Fund.

As the coronation celebrations drew to a close on Monday night, the king and queen vowed to rededicate their lives to service, as Charles described supporting the nation during the historic celebrations as the “greatest gift of the coronation”.

In his special coronation message, Charles said: “We thank each and every one of you.”

Traditional official portraits in honor of the coronation of Charles III and the queen Camila were released to complete the monarchy’s landmark event.

Among them, the king was captured in full uniform – in the Imperial state crown, holding a Sphere and a scepter with a cross in his hands, dressed in a royal purple tunic and an estate mantle, sitting on a throne in the throne room of Buckingham Palace.

Camilla was depicted alongside the King, as well as in a solo portrait, wearing the crown of Queen Mary, with the train of her long embroidered mantle of estate spread before her.

Working Royal Family – Prince and Princess of Wales, Edinburgh, Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence Duke of KentThe Gloucesters and Princess Alexandra – were also photographed standing with the King and Queen in pictures by Hugo Bernand.

The Duke of York, who stepped down as a member of the royal family following the scandalous Newsnight documentary, was absent from the royal family group in the official coronation portraits released so far.

Andrew, who wore the Order of the Garter at the coronation, paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case last year.

The Duke of Sussex was also missing as he was no longer a member of the royal family and headed back to California shortly after the coronation ceremony.

The King, signing the words of Charles R., said that he and Camilla express their “most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all those who helped to make this such a special celebration”.

The now-crowned monarch used his coronation message to issue a confirmation for the rest of his reign, saying he and Camilla would “now rededicate their lives” to royal service.

He added: “Knowing that we have your support and encouragement and witnessing your kindness shown in so many ways has been the greatest gift at the coronation as we now rededicate our lives to serving the people of the United Kingdom, the Kingdom and the Commonwealth.” .

The King also paid tribute to “the countless people who have given their time and dedicated themselves to making the celebrations in London, Windsor and beyond as happy, safe and enjoyable as possible”.

Earlier on Monday, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children helped out at a scout hut in Slough as part of a national coronation volunteer campaign.

While the King and Queen spent a quiet day away from the public eye following Sunday night’s Coronation Concert, other members of the royal family joined in with the big help.

Edward and Sophie helped out at a guide dog puppy class in Reading, while The Princess Royal attended a county civic service recognizing local volunteers at Gloucester Cathedral.

Edward admitted that the royal family were worried that Miss Piggy would break down the gates of the royal box during the musical extravaganza at Windsor Castle, after Kermit the Frog appeared and danced outside the Duke’s seat.

“Everybody in the royal box was excited when Miss Piggy appeared,” he said.

“There was an empty seat behind me and we didn’t know who it was for.

“We suddenly thought it could be her, and as soon as we started these rumours, everyone around us was very nervous.”
