UK weather: Brits expect sunshine at 24C – warmer than Bilbao – before thunderstorms expected in days

BRITS are set to bask in 24C sunshine over the coming days – basking in the weather warmer than in Bilbao.

But it’s best to make the most of it as storms are expected over the weekend.

The weather service said any low cloud that was present this morning will dissipate after seeing the mercury rise as the day progresses.

Forecasters predict that the south will have higher temperatures today London and Southampton the temperature is likely to reach a staggering 24 degrees by 11am.

Norwich and Cardiff will be about 23C, with Plymouth and Manchester only a degree lower.

But at the same time the Met Office said temperatures in Bilbao would be four notches lower at 20C.

However, enjoy better the weather than Spain won’t last long as thunderstorms are expected in parts of the country on Saturday – and they will spread further on Sunday and Monday.

Looking at the outlook for Saturday to Monday, the Met said: “Dry with long sunny spells.

“Saturday will be wetter with increasing chances of thunderstorms in the south, then Sunday and Monday.”

Yesterday the forecasters were waiting for the sun the temperature reaches 28 degrees.

Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said: “The heat will ease slightly over the next few days.

“London may not meet the heat criteria, for example, but this week is expected to see plenty of dry, fine, sunny weather with temperatures remaining well above average.

“The weekend should be fairly dry, with temperatures remaining warm for many, although also wet and warm overnight.”

This follows the section of Great Britain that runs from northwest to southeast England exceeded the threshold for a heat wave.

In Chertsey, the temperature reached 32.2 degrees. Surreyon Saturday June 10, the highest recorded this year.

Porthmadog, North West Walesthe highest temperature was recorded on Tuesday – 30.8 degrees.

Hot conditions combined with a lack of rain have increased the risk of wildfires, the Met Office said.
