Appeal following indecent exposure in Hampstead Heath

The Metropolitan Police say they are keeping an open mind, but detectives believe the same man could be behind a series of reported incidents in the south-east desert.

During the period from June 6 to 7, the police received four similar reports.

The suspect is described as having dark skin, short brown hair, dark eyes, clean shaven, 5”6-8” tall and about 25-35 years old.

Extra patrols are ongoing in the area following the reports and police are urging anyone who sees a man matching the description and displaying suspicious or disturbing behavior to contact officers.

Detective Inspector Joel Gregory, from the Central North Serious Sex Crime Squad, said: “We understand this may be of concern to those using the heath, however I would like to reassure the local community that we have stepped up patrols and are working diligently to identify or persons responsible for these heinous crimes.

“We have carried out extensive inquiries and two weeks after the sexual assault I am asking anyone who was last in the park two weeks ago to recall if they saw anyone behaving suspiciously or matching the description.

“We take these crimes very seriously, but we do not allow whether they were committed by the same person. It is very important that he is identified, but we need the public’s help. Anyone with information that they believe could help us is urged to contact us immediately. We are also working closely with Camden Council who are supporting our investigation.

“Any form of violence against women is deeply concerning and we do not minimize the seriousness of these crimes.”
