BBC Weather apologizes for strange forecast predicting winter temperatures of 7C after glitch

The BBC apologized for the “technical problems” it caused Weather forecast display incorrectly on their services temperature.

Broadcaster visitors the weather the app and website predict temperatures of below 10C across the UK next week, while Metaburo is forecasting figures in their teens and twenties.

The unusually low temperatures for the summer were also featured on the BBC News at ten o’clock on Thursday.

The BBC Weather account tweeted on Thursday evening: “We apologize for the incorrect temperatures appearing on the website and app.

“We are working with our data providers to correct this error.”

On Friday morning, they added: “Good morning, unfortunately we are still having technical issues with the data on our app and (website)…it won’t actually be 7 or 8C.”

On BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, weather presenter Simon King also spoke about the disruption, saying: “Temperatures over the next few days will be between 16 and 23C during the day and between 9 and 12C at night, about average for the time of year .

“Not the seven or 8C that you currently see on our website or app, so apologies. There is still a technical glitch in this regard.”

The Met Office is currently forecasting a high of around 19C in London on Friday, with 13 to 24C expected for the rest of the week.

A slightly cooler picture is forecast for Edinburgh, with a high of 17C and a low of 10C expected for the week.

Temperatures are forecast to range from 13C to 19C in Cardiff next week, while Belfast will see similar temperatures with a low of 10C and a high of around 18C, the Met Office said.
