We live in the UK’s ‘dirtiest’ city – visitors say it’s like a ‘third world’ country but they don’t know the truth
FURIOUS homeowners living in Britain’s “dirtiest” town have spoken out for their area after it was compared to a “Third World country”.
A TikTok The video sparked a backlash after the conviction West Midlands city c Coventry.
Social media influencer Rafawho has more than 400,000 followers online, was told to stay away as he failed to impress during the visit.
The 29-year-old uploaded video on his TikTok page, telling viewers: “I’m going back to London and I had to call into Coventry.
“This is a third world country.”
He complained about litter on the streets, rubbish in gardens and flies in the Fallshill area on his way back to the capital from Manchester.
Rafai described himself as “shocked” by the state of the streets and suggested the place looked “like it was almost abandoned” and “lived in 1970”.
But residents responded by writing their outrage further CoventryLive‘s Facebook page.
One, Liam Cook, wrote: “Don’t you like our city? Don’t come here.”
Another, Sherin Le’Fevre, urged him: “Don’t judge the whole city by what you saw for a short time while charging your car in a rundown neighborhood.”
She insisted there were “a lot of beautiful places” in our city, despite Fallshill’s problems.
However, others agreed with Rafay’s criticism, with Chris Cannon saying: “That’s true, but there are a lot more areas like this in Coventry.
“Now it’s like a third world country.”
And Pete Croft suggested that the area “has always been a dumping ground”.
Rafai’s video has garnered more than 2,600 comments and almost 190,000 “likes” online.
In the comments posted under the 68-second clip, Zach said: “I’m from Coventry – every town has slums, every town has mansions.”
Another viewer wrote: “The UK has a serious litter problem – people don’t seem to care”, but Rafa was also slammed for “going to the worst area to describe the whole city”.
Others urged him to visit other places Great Britain when he thought Coventry was bad – assuming that nearby Birmingham and West Bromwichalso how Blackpool, Bristol, Derby or Middlesbrough.
Complaints had already been made about Coventry residents living at the site of Coventry City’s former home ground at Highfield Road.
Elsewhere in the city, concerns have been raised about plans for a new one McDonald’s drive-through restaurant.
