Bagel Boss Woolwich High Street fire: Flats evacuated

Four fire engines and 25 fire engines were called to Woolwich High Street to deal with a shop fire at 7.47am on Saturday 8 July.

Before the arrival of the brigade, 15 people were evacuated from the apartments above the workshop.

No casualties have been reported.

Part of the first floor of the workshop was damaged by fire.

The fire was extinguished around 8.30am and is believed to have started due to an electrical fault.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: “Twenty-five firefighters and four fire engines responded to fire in the store with flats above in Woolwich High Street.

“Part of the workshop on the first floor was damaged by the fire.

“Fifteen people were evacuated from the apartments above before the crews arrived.

“There are no reports of casualties.

“Dispatchers received the first of five fire calls at 0747. Crews had the fire under control until 0828.

“Firefighters from Plumstead, Eltham and East Greenwich fire departments arrived at the scene.

“The fire is believed to be accidental due to an electrical fault.”
