Masked thugs jailed for stealing £72,000 diamond watch from Amir Khan in dramatic gunpoint raid in front of tearful wife

MASKED thugs who stole Amir Khan’s £72,000 diamond watch in a raid at gunpoint in front of his weeping wife were jailed today.

Han was at dinner with his wife Faryal, 31, and friend Omar Khalid at the Sahara Grill in Leyton, East London, when the robbery took place.

Dante Campbell, 20, and Ahmed Bana, 26, were jailed after admitting conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

Campbell was jailed for seven years and nine months, while getaway driver Ban was jailed for nine years and eight months.

Ahmed Bana, Nurul Amin and Ismail Mohammed, all 25, were previously acquitted of conspiracy to commit robbery.

In a victim impact statement Khan told the court how the robbery had affected his life.

He added: “I’m really scared to go out, especially in London.

“I avoid going back to London, which is sad because that’s where I grew up and spent my life.

“I’m constantly looking over my shoulder. I am very wary of people, even fans and nice people who approach.

“I used to be very friendly. I never turned down fans who wanted to talk or take a picture.”

Faryal’s wife added: “I keep thinking we could have been shot.”

Shocking footage showed the moment Khan was mugged on a crowded high street.

He then crosses the road to get into a car driven by Omar as two men get out of a silver Mercedes coupe.

With a hood a person then runs to Han and raises his hand to point the gun at the boxer, who is giving up the watch.

The robbers then fled in a Mercedes driven by Bana.

Han previously disclosed it horror as he recounted how he was left staring down the barrel of a gun.

He said: “I am an athlete, a fighter, I have been put in the most difficult situations, but this is something else, it is really very scary.

“When he put the gun to my face, I couldn’t recognize him because he was wearing a mask. I looked away because I didn’t want him to pull the trigger.

“At first I didn’t know what he wanted, then he said ‘take off the watch.’ When he said “take off the watch” he immediately hit me.

“I immediately took it off and then handed it to him.”

Khan also told how Faryal was left “screaming and crying” after the horror.

He told court a rose gold diamond encrusted watch valued at £72,000 was given to him after he won boxing to fight

In April, Khan revealed the watch he was returned as he thanked Met Police.

He also revealed his plans to auction off the watch to “raise funds for those less fortunate”.

Part of the proceeds will be transferred to the production of a gun and a knife crime in Great Britain.
