A 26-year-old employee of the colony engaged in “secret phone sex with an inmate who called her his 'Mrs.' and met his mother.”

A FEMALE prison officer reportedly had secret phone sex with an inmate who called her 'Mrs' – and even dated his mum, a court heard.

26-year-old Ruth Shmylo is accused of a five-month “improper relationship” with a criminal who was behind bars on category B prisonArt Waleswhere she worked.

The warden, they say, had “everyday” phone sex with the prisoner after he gave his number on a piece of paper.

It is alleged that instead of informing the thug that he had a secret cell phone, Shmylo called him and started a relationship.

Prosecutor Matthew Cobb said the pair began having “teenage chats” and the inmate texted Shmyl on her birthday, calling her a “princess girl”.

Mr Cobb said: “The inappropriate relationship is shown by records of inmate Ms Schmiel's calls after he moved from Park Prison to HMP Manchester.

“The records between him and Ms. Shmyla date back to when she was no longer employed at Park Prison.

“Nevertheless, the tone of those conversations is tied to a fair and accurate finding that she was in an inappropriate relationship with him while he was in Park Prison.”

Mr Cobb said Schmila made “several admissions” to police after being arrested through phone calls.

One of her alleged admissions was that she engaged in phone sex with an inmate.

Mr Cobb said: “She admitted during her interview that she had phone sex with a prisoner.

“She explained that it was mostly the inmate telling her things, noting that 'I listened to most of it.'

“That means she actively engaged in phone sex with the inmate — or some of it.”

Mr Cobb added that the secret relationship began while they were in Park Prison.

But it was only discovered after the prisoner was transferred to HMP Manchester and their calls were recorded.

Mr Cobb added: “She explained that the prisoner had slipped her a number on a piece of paper.

“She was explaining how she got his number to call and said she felt pressured to call him.

“Having that number, she did not disclose that he gave her his number, she did not disclose that she felt pressured to make the call, she did not disclose that she called the number, or that he had a cell phone to call.

“She said that after she took that number from the inmate, she felt trapped. Prosecutors say she actually had a number of options and choices she could have made.

“She could and should have refused to take the number, she could and should have reported the incident to prison staff, she could and should have reported that he had a cell phone, and she could and should have refused to call his number.

“She decided to call his number instead.”

Shmylo, now a former prison officer, said the inmate would contact her “almost every day.”

According to her, the prisoner even threatened to harm another prisoner if she stopped taking his calls.

Shmyla told police that to protect another inmate, she kept him locked in his cell all day and away from her secret lover, Cardiff Crown Court heard.

Mr Cobb said: “In her interview she explained that the prisoner forced her to meet his mother.

“During the meeting with his mother, the mother told everything about him, the prisoner.

“He told Ms. Shmyla that he wanted her to know what he was really like — and who better to tell her than his mother.

“When she told him she didn't want to go meet his mother, he told her she better go because his mother had made an effort – including getting her nails done.”

Shmila, of Treforest, Pontypridd, denies misconduct in public office.

The trial is expected to continue for five days.
