UK Weather: Met Office warns of more rain today with flood warnings…but dry, bright and sunny conditions ahead

The Met Office has warned Britons to brace for another bout of heavy rain today, but dry, bright sunshine is just days away.

On Wednesday, it will be cloudy with clearing in many areas Great Britain it will start to rain in places.

It will rain in the northern, eastern and central regions of the country England during the day.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 10C in south-west England today, with a minimum of 2C in parts of the country overnight.

By nightfall, a band of rain will move southeast across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales, the forecaster said.

The rain will continue tomorrow as a band of showers sweeps across the UK – but the good news is that it will become lighter and patchier during the day.

According to the Met Office, there will be a few showers in northwest Scotland on Thursday.

The forecast for the weekend is more positive, “soft” temperatures are expected.

It is also forecast to be “mainly dry for many” from Friday to Sunday, with “bright” conditions in the east of the UK.

Today's rain is coming later yellow warning days for heavy showers.

Britons have been warned to prepare for travel chaos, as well as flooding on roads and homes.

Meanwhile, according to the long-term forecast of the Meteorological Service, there is snow is possible on Christmas Eve.

The forecast reads: “It now looks likely that there will be at least one short cold break next week with a period of northerly or northwesterly winds which could bring snow and ice, particularly to the north.”
