M25 delays J29-J30: Car fire on slip road near Upminster

The fire broke out at the anti-clockwise junction at junction 29 near Upminster, causing delays of around half an hour to junction 30 near Grace.

Essex County Fire Service was called to the fire at 5.45am this morning (January 9).

The approach road looked set to reopen in just over an hour, but the National Highways Agency warned motorists could expect delays of up to 40 minutes.

Firefighters left the scene around 6:45 a.m., “quickly extinguishing the fire.”

One social media user reached out to X and said they were stuck on the highway for about half an hour while emergency services tackled the fire.

The National Highway Traffic Service and Essex Fire Service have been contacted for further information on the incident, including whether anyone was injured.
