King Charles III enters the hospital for a routine operation on his prostate

King Charles III was accepted into the council London Friday in hospital for a “corrective procedure” to enlarge his prostate, according to Buckingham Place.

The 75-year-old king will be treated at the London Clinic, where the Princess of Wales is recovering from abdominal surgery. The King visited Kate in hospital after arriving.

“This morning, the king was admitted to a London hospital for routine treatment,” the palace said. “His Majesty would like to thank all those who sent good wishes last week.”

Charles, who came to the throne 16 months ago, was diagnosed with a benign condition on January 17 after a scan because he was experiencing symptoms. He called off the engagement and was asked to rest before the procedure.

Publicity for the royal operation is seen as an opportunity to encourage other men to have their prostate checked in line with public health advice.

The palace said the king was “pleased to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public awareness”.
