Nando's restaurant raided by food hygiene inspectors after staff used chicken so old it stank
Food hygiene inspectors raided a Nando's store after staff overstayed food to the point it stank.
Workers are accused of putting customers at risk by keeping chicken, rice and coleslaw after they leave.
On Friday, Ealing Council sent a food hygiene inspection team to question staff at the Park Royal branch in West London.
This happened after the announcement of WhatsApp a group chat that is believed to have been used as a log of daily transitions has been leaked.
They appear to show that employees are putting themselves at risk of potentially fatal salmonella poisoning through regularly extending dates.
One shocking report said 30 servings of pulled chicken had been thrown away because the dates had already been changed twice and it was starting to smell.
A source said: “Staff were regularly told to change the expiry dates on food.
“The managers were in that group chat and had complete control over everything that was going on. In fact, it is a diary of breaking the rules.'
Nando's launched an investigation and insisted that “anything past its expiry date cannot be served”.
