Fleetwood Mac created some of the most recognizable musical hits of the 1970s and beyond.

In 1967 Stevie joined her the future ex-boyfriend and bandmate of Lindsey Buckingham, the band Fritz.

After Fritz broke up in 1972, Stevie and Lindsey performed as a duo until they met Mick Fleetwood.

In 1974, Mick specifically asked Lindsey to join Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey asked Mick to recruit Stevie, and in 1975 Fleetwood Mac released their debut studio album.

As part of the group, Stevie enjoyed success as Fleetwood's songs Landslide, Rhiannon, Little Lies, Go Your Own Way, Hold Me and Everywhere achieved widespread popularity.

In 1981, Stevie released her first solo album, Bella Donna.

It is independently recognized as voice behind the hits Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back, Talk to Me and Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You?

In 2014, her eighth solo project, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, became available to listeners everywhere.

Stevie's last album with Fleetwood Mac was the 2003 project Say You Will.

Say You Will featured the late Stevie's minimal contribution to the band Christine McVie.

Throughout Fleetwood Mac's time together, the group dynamic has seen ups and downs in their relationship.

Stevie's relationship with Christine McVie was no exception.

Hostile classmates

About their first years together in Fleetwood, Christine said Guardian: “It was critical that I went with her because I had never played with another girl.

“I liked her instantly. She was funny and nice but there was no competition.

“On stage we were completely different from each other and wrote differently too.”

Stevie echoed Christine's sentiments and shared with NME: “We felt together, we were a force of nature.

“We made an agreement, probably at our first rehearsal, that we would never accept being treated like second-class citizens in music. business.

“When we walked into the room, we were so fantastic and so strong and so smart that none of the super rock star group saw through… and they never did.”

Although the “best friends” stopped communicating with each other in the early 1980s, they patched things up years later.

After making amends with each other, the two have shown support for each other on various occasions.

In 2013, Christine performed her first Fleetwood show in 15 years and rejoined the band in September 2014.

Sadly, Christine passed away in 2022.

Stevie took to social media to mourn her longtime friend.

She posted on Instagram: “A few hours ago I was informed that my best friend in the whole world since day one in 1975 has passed away.

“I didn't even know she was ill … until late on Saturday night. I wanted to be in London, I wanted to get to London – but we were told to wait.

“So, since Saturday, one song has been going over and over and over in my head.

“I thought I could sing it to her, so I'm singing it to her now.”

In memory of the late Christine, she added: “I always knew that one day I would need these words… Now it's all I can do.

“See you on the other side, my love. Don't forget me. Always, Stevie.”
