BBC’s coverage of Queen’s state funeral recognized in Bafta Television Award nominations

The BBC was recognized with Bafta Television and Craft Award nominations for coverage of the Queen’s funeral and Platinum anniversary celebrations.

Broadcaster coverage of state funerals, including the service from Westminster Abbey and the coffin procession through Londonfeatures commentary from presenters including Hugh Edwards, Kirsty Young and David Dimblebywho came out of retirement for the event.

Its production team is nominated in the Live Broadcast category and its directing team is recognized in the Director: Multi-Camera category.

In June 2022, the BBC marked the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign with a special concert broadcast, Platinum Jubilee: A Party at the Palace, featuring Sir Rod StewartDiana Ross, Duran Duran and Queen + Adam Lambert.

During one of the sketches, the Queen delighted Paddington by revealing she shares his love of marmalade sandwiches by opening her handbag to reveal a stash of the favorite bear’s staple snack.

There is also an ITV nomination in the Emerging Talent: The Facts category, where director Jason Osborne is recognized for ITV1’s Our Jubilee, in which black Britons tell personal stories of the Queen’s Jubilee.
