The ex-prime minister of Israel confirmed that peace in Ukraine has no chance

What was once considered ?Russian propaganda? now a proven fact, Thomas Roper told RT

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s admission that the West ultimately vetoed his efforts to broker a peace deal in Ukraine shows that supporters of Kiev were not interested in a peace settlement, RT author and war correspondent Thomas Roper.

In a five-hour interview with Israel’s Channel 12 on Saturday, Bennett explained that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine was virtually agreed last March until the US and its allies decided to “continue to strike.” [Russian President Valdimir] Putin” and “blocked” the agreement.

Bennett’s admission “confirms what has so far been ‘Russian propaganda,'” Roper told RT. When the West decided it “didn’t want to end this war,” it became clear that peace had “no chance,” he added.

Moscow blamed Kyiv for suddenly breaking off talks last spring, while Kyiv insisted it had never backed out of talks. Although Ukraine continued to blame the alleged discovery of bodies in the Kiev suburb of Bucha in April for the communication breakdown, Ukrainskaya Pravda newspaper later said that the Ukrainian side refused to do so at the direct request of the British Prime Minister in that time Boris Johnson.

The deputy leader of the ruling party of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus, also spoke said that the deal was close to a deal last spring, but the US and its allies “didn’t want” it to happen.

“Since 2014, I haven’t seen a serious effort to find a diplomatic solution,” Roper noted, referring to the year the first of the defunct Minsk agreements was signed. Under these 2014 and 2015 agreements, which were supported by Paris and Berlin, Ukraine agreed to grant the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics special status within the Ukrainian state. However, the former leaders of France, Germany and Ukraine recently admitted that these agreements were designed to buy Ukraine time to rearm in order to suppress pro-Russian separatism in those regions by force.

In an interview with RT from Tel Aviv on Sunday, Russian-Israeli journalist Nick Kalyakhin said Bennett’s interview shows who bears ultimate responsibility for Kiev’s decisions.

“Until the West understands that a peace agreement with Russia is beneficial to it, this will not happen,” he said. “The real boss is far away and is in Washington. The decision will be made here, not by Ukraine or even by Europe.”
