Football footage of Ilyas Khabib, who went crazy for Arsenal, has been released

Ilyas Habibi was walking home from college when he was attacked in Sutton High Street at around 7.10pm on December 5.

Officers, crews from the London Ambulance Service and air ambulance were called to the scene.

Upon arrival, Ilyas was found with stab wounds, he was given first aid.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:55 p.m.

Ilyas' older brother, Mr. Habibi, has since paid up a tribute and shared footage of his “hardworking” brother who was “kind, caring and generous”.

The 20-year-old said he was proud to watch Ilyas grow up in the years before his life was taken.

In a video shared with Your Local Guardian, Ilyas, who is “obsessed” with football, plays the game he “loved”.

Mr Habibi said: “Ilyas was my youngest, he was a pleasure to be around. He cared, loved my parents, his siblings and friends.

“Ilyas was a football lover, he played football and he always shouted at the TV when he watched Arsenal play. This was his life.

“The house was never quiet when Arsenal played because he was just shouting all the time.

“He never did anything to anyone, he was a very good boy who was loved by everyone.”

Mr Habibi spoke of a moment of pride when Ilyas brought home a certificate from a construction course at Croydon College a week before he was killed.

He explained: “We were very happy that Ilyas did well in college. We were happy and he was happy.

“So seeing him happy made us really proud of him. He had a bright future.”

Police revealed that Ilyas arrived at Sutton High Street by train and minutes after he left the station, he got into an altercation with the suspect, who then fled the scene.

Officers say it's “unclear if the suspect was also injured” and are asking the person or anyone who knows them to come forward.

Mr Habibi described the moment he got the call that Ilyas had been stabbed as “every brother's worst nightmare”.

He said: “I was at work at the time and Ilyas usually comes to where I work after finishing college.

“That day, my mother called me and asked: 'Is Ilyash with you, is his phone turned off?'

“So I tried to call him, but his phone was off, and then my dad called me and said, 'Ilyas isn't picking up the phone.'

“We decided to wait about 30 minutes before calling the police.

“I got a notification on my phone from the doorbell, so I thought Ilyas was at home, so I decided to watch a video of what Ilyas was doing.

“I saw two officers standing outside and my father opened the door and the officers said, are you Ilyas's mom and dad?

“They said yes. And the officers answered: “Ilyas was wounded and he died.”

After hearing the terrible news, Mr. Habibi started screaming, where he eventually passed out at work.

He was dropped off at home by a member of staff where he saw his mum and dad screaming.

Mr Habibi added: “That moment traumatized me for the rest of my life and I will never be able to forget it.”

A day before his death, Ilyas visited his brother at work and asked Mr. Habibi to sign up for a driving theory test.

Mr Habibi explained: “That was the last time I spoke to Ilyas. He was happy, he came to the workshop and someone food and asked me to record his test.

I asked him, Ilyas: “Are you sure you are ready?”. He replied, “Yes, brother.”

“So I booked him a test for Wednesday at 9am.”

Mr Habibi's mother passes out “five or six times a day” and spends time crying in Ilyas' room after his death.

Mr Habibi said: “The house is so empty. Ilyas' room is next to mine. I didn't sleep.

“My heart just hurts. When I close my eyes, I see Ilyas in front of me.”

A week after Ilyas' death, Mr Habibi is in shock and no one has been arrested since.

He said: “Ilyas was not stabbed in an alley, it was near the station where there are many cameras and witnesses.

“So how come they haven't been detained yet? We are in frequent contact with the police, but nothing new ever happens.

“We have to know every step of the police. The mother will be relieved when she learns that her son's killer is being sought.

“My mother is not helped by the fact that her son's killer sleeps in a nice, warm house, eats well and walks around as if nothing had happened, and my brother's body is lying in a freezer in the hospital.

“I just hope that justice is done for my brother. I really do.”

Since then, Ilyas has been honored with flowers and lit candles left at the scene.

Several candles spelling out Ilyas' name are also among the tributes at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know that Ilyas arrived in Sutton High Street by train.

“A few minutes after he left the station, he was involved in an altercation with the suspect who then fled the scene.

“Ilyas was mortally wounded. It is not yet known if the suspect was also injured. If you know or are the suspect, please get in touch.

“I would urge anyone who is concerned to come forward and speak to the patrol officers or contact the policing team.
